The Sugar Land Space Cowboys are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros Major League Baseball club. They are located in Sugar Land, Texas, part of the Greater Houston metropolitan area, and play their home games at Constellation Field. The team began play as the Sugar Land Skeeters in 2012 as an expansion team of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB), an independent baseball league. The El Paso Chihuahuas are a Minor League Baseball team of the Triple-A West and the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. They are located in El Paso, Texas, and play their home games at Southwest University Park, which opened in 2014. The Chihuahuas moved to El Paso from Tucson, Arizona, where they were known as the Tucson Padres. They played in the Pacific Coast League (PCL) until the 2021 restructuring of the minor leagues when they shifted to the Triple-A West. The Chihuahuas won the PCL championship in 2016.

Pacific Coast League

The Triple-A West is a 10-team Minor League Baseball league that began operating in the United States in 2021. Along with the Triple-A East, it is one of two leagues playing at the Triple-A level, which is one grade below Major League Baseball (MLB). The league was created in 2021 in conjunction with MLB's reorganization of the minor leagues. The league is made up of nine teams formerly of the Pacific Coast League and one from the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
