Bills to break in new stadium in Week 2 matchup against Lions

The Buffalo Bills will break in their new Highmark Stadium when they host the Detroit Lions on September 17th in Week 2 of the 2026 NFL season.

[p]Amazon Prime will broadcast the Thursday night primetime game, which will be the teams' third matchup in the past five years. [/p][p]The last time the two teams met was in 2024, when the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/buffalo-bills/t2lcn4tk/"]Bills[/a] won 48-42. Buffalo finished the 2025 season with a 12-5 record, while the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/detroit-lions/boZWV3E7/"]Lions[/a] finished 9-8, missing the playoffs.[/p][p]The full schedule for every team around the league will be revealed on May 14th. [/p][embed guid="67fb9376-7de6-46a6-bf76-7f1615815791" url="https://x.com/BuffaloBills/status/2053980367187538390?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]The new Highmark Stadium has been under construction since June 2023.[/p][p]Old Highmark stood for 53 years, making it the fourth-oldest stadium in the NFL behind Chicago's Soldier Field (1924), Green Bay's Lambeau Field (1957), and Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium (1972). [/p][p]The Bills' run at old Highmark started the way it began, with a win against the New York Jets. In 1973, the Bills defeated the Jets 9-7.
