[p]Thanks to the win, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/denmark/2mX8FleU/"]Denmark[/a] climbed to sixth place in Group B, ahead of [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/slovenia/x2ZOU7PT/"]Slovenia[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/italy/IqPZXVAb/"]Italy[/a]. Slovenia went into the match with a winning 2-1-1 record against Denmark, and even a plus-1 goal difference in the four World Championship games the teams played between 2005 and 2015.[/p][p]Denmark had the better of the first period without making the most of their chances, but edged ahead during their first power-play opportunity at 13:52 of the second period when Nick Olesen and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/aagaard-mikkel/v57qjaw9/"]Mikkel Aagaard[/a] set up Joachim Blichfeld, who fired a wrist shot which beat [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/horak-lukas/h8yOxDJK/"]Lukas Horak[/a].[/p][image alt="Denmark Match Results" id="20d6074a-fe03-428d-aa63-fe005689d465" credit-line="Flashare" guid="2e868894-7a9b-4275-81ea-c4280be77b05" original-width="1200" original-height="1200" /][p]The goal gave Denmark plenty of momentum, and while they didn't allow the Slovenians to get back into the match, they doubled their lead with 1:17 remaining in the period when [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/russell-patrick/hUSBinuE/"]Patrick Russell[/a] redirected Patrick Bruggisser’s point shot through Horak’s legs to make it 2-0 for Denmark.
