"With so many finals that I have lost, they also teach me a lot of things that basically the game is never done till it's done."[/p][p]Sabalenka will now head into her Miami Open title defence looking to complete the 'Sunshine Double', while Rybakina rises to a career-high world number two, overtaking [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/swiatek-iga/jNyZsXZe/"]Iga Swiatek[/a] in the rankings.[/p][embed guid="537618a6-7683-47c6-b881-024fb2fcdfac" url="https://x.com/WTA/status/2033296390772691074" social-type="twitter" /][p]On the men's side of the tournament at Indian Wells, world number two [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/sinner-jannik/6HdC3z4H/"]Jannik Sinner[/a] secured a milestone victory over [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/medvedev-daniil/O8qG0Nhb/"]Daniil Medvedev[/a] in a high-quality final, as the Italian became just the third man in history to complete the full set of ATP Masters 1000 hard-court titles.[/p][p]The 24-year-old joins legendary duo [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/djokovic-novak/AZg49Et9/"]Novak Djokovic[/a] and [a another demonstration of the Italian's ruthless efficiency in the key moments, as he rallied from 4-0 down in the second-set tie-break to reel off seven straight points and clinch victory.[/p][embed throughout the contest, while Sinner won an incredible 91% of points behind his first delivery.[/p][p]"I kept believing and kept pushing," the Italian said when asked about his tie-break turnaround. "I went for my shots a little more."[/p][p]Despite defeat, Medvedev can take comfort in returning to the top 10, as he leads the Tour with the most wins (18) in 2026, including his remarkable performance to dispatch [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/alcaraz-garfia-carlos/UkhgIFEq/"]Carlos Alcaraz[/a] in the semi-finals.[/p][image alt="Sinner celebrates with the trophy" dropping a set in California, Sinner became the first man to win successive Masters 1000 titles without losing a set since the series began in 1990 - following on from his impressive run to the Paris crown in November.[/p][p]The Italian has now cut the gap to rival Alcaraz at the top of the rankings, and with no points to defend at upcoming Masters 1000 events in Miami, Monte-Carlo and Madrid, he'll certainly be targeting a return to world number one ahead of the French Open.[/p]
Biggest strugglers
[p]Former top-10 player [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/navarro-emma/WxLdKcAs/"]Emma Navarro[/a] endured yet another frustrating tournament at Indian Wells, with the American losing her opening match to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kartal-sonay/nFb01JTe/"]Sonay Kartal[/a] in three sets, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/tennis/kartal-s-nFb01JTe/navarro-e-WxLdKcAs/?mid=xzrTEP3L"]6-1, 3-6, 7-6(2)[/a].[/p][p]The 24-year-old spurned a match point against the Brit, as well as twice failing to serve it out in the decider, as she slumped to a seventh defeat in her last nine outings dating back to mid-January.[/p][p]Following her early exit, Navarro entered the Austin Challenger a few days later in the hope of finding some form, but her campaign was immediately ended by [a social-type="youtube" /][p]Olympic champion [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/zheng-qinwen/xCyEhjAS/"]Zheng Qinwen[/a] was another notable name to lose early in California, as the Chinese star fell to Croatia’s [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/ruzic-antonia/MuT7l0nb/"]Antonia Ruzic[/a] [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/tennis/ruzic-a-MuT7l0nb/zheng-q-xCyEhjAS/?mid=OO1DsqE5"]6-4, 7-5[/a] at the first hurdle.[/p][p]Meanwhile, on the men’s side of the tournament, former world number six [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hurkacz-hubert/zuHOBnY9/"]Hubert Hurkacz[/a] continues to struggle on his return from knee surgery, with the Pole suffering a fifth successive first-round defeat after losing in [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/tennis/hurkacz-h-zuHOBnY9/kovacevic-a-AudsF90U/?mid=CjciTF9j"]straight sets[/a] to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kovacevic-aleksandar/AudsF90U/"]Aleksandar Kovacevic[/a].[/p][p]Having shown some promising signs at the start of the year at the United Cup, Hurkacz’s form has since nosedived, leaving him as low as 75th in the latest ATP rankings.[/p][embed guid="0a13788c-3b30-463f-b12c-6ab7a5c644a9" url="https://x.com/ATPChallenger/status/2032248069333434719" social-type="twitter" /][p]Following his defeat to Kovacevic at Indian Wells, Hurkacz entered the Cap Cana Challenger in the Dominican Republic in a bid to restore some confidence, but the 29-year-old’s struggles were further compounded with a [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/tennis/bellucci-m-M9pojLqi/hurkacz-h-zuHOBnY9/?mid=Mc4vsflm"]6-2, 6-4[/a] loss to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bellucci-mattia/M9pojLqi/"]Mattia Bellucci[/a].[/p][p]There were also early exits in California for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/tsitsipas-stefanos/hb6oWfc6/"]Stefanos Tsitsipas[/a], with the latter falling outside the top 50 for the first time since 2018.[/p]
Standout moment
[p]Andreeva’s title defence at Indian Wells came to an ugly end in the third round, as the Russian teenager was stunned by doubles specialist [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/siniakova-katerina/OKXs3Wah/"]Katerina Siniakova[/a].[/p][p]Despite edging a tight opening set, the 18-year-old was unable to contain her emotions in a rollercoaster affair, with Siniakova recovering from the brink of defeat to win [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/tennis/andreeva-m-lI6fOOat/siniakova-k-OKXs3Wah/?mid=QZEokUyf"]4-6, 7-6(5), 6-3[/a] in just under three hours.[/p][p]The contest ended with Siniakova hitting a shot that dribbled over the net via the net cord, sparking a bad-tempered reaction from Andreeva, who threw her racket as she approached the net before gesturing and appearing to swear at the crowd as she departed the court.[/p][image alt="Andreeva smashes her racket during her third-round defeat" alarming outburst from the teenage sensation, who has often struggled to keep her emotions in check throughout the early stages of her burgeoning career.[/p][p]Following the Siniakova loss in California, Andreeva admitted it was an area she needed to address moving forward as she looks to become a mainstay in the top 10.[/p][p]“I’m not really proud of how I managed it,” the Russian said.
