Canada left nervous as injuries still in play ahead of key game against Switzerland

The Canadian national soccer team continues to go through the full range of ⁠emotions in the 2026 World Cup.

[p]The team earned its first point in World Cup play when ‌it drew with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/bosnia-herzegovina/fqe7WYTr/"]Bosnia and Herzegovina[/a] 1-1 on home turf in ‌Toronto on June 12. Then on Thursday, the ‌Canadians blistered [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/qatar/zqzHL77i/"]Qatar[/a] 6-0 to control their own destiny ‌in Group B.[/p][p]But the victory came with some significant ‌costs.[/p][p]Starting midfielder [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kone-ismael/MkgjOoBG/"]Ismael Kone[/a] suffered a fractured leg against Qatar and will miss the remainder of the tournament. The ‌loss of the 24-year-old star shook up ⁠both players and staff ‌of the squad.[/p][p]On Sunday, it was revealed that [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/canada/x4toKORL/"]Canada[/a]'s vice-captain [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/eustaquio-stephen/Uk00cWLU/"]​Stephen Eustaquio[/a] missed training in Vancouver.
