A 0-0 draw between FC Volendam and Feyenoord on Sunday afternoon meant PSV were crowned Eredivisie champions for the 27th time.

[p]Anything other than a [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/feyenoord/8zjySeoN/"]Feyenoord[/a] win would crown [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/psv/M9UEHJWi/"]PSV[/a] champions of the Eredivisie for the 27th time in club history. The Eindhoven outfit's 4-3 win over [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/utrecht/p6QXMgOj/"]FC Utrecht[/a] on Saturday extended their lead over Feyenoord to 18 points, making Sunday's meeting with Feyenoord crucial in the title race.[/p][embed guid="15c17c0e-37e3-4e41-bace-77e552232dc1" url="https://x.com/PSV/status/2040768921301811695?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]Feyenoord manager [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/van-persie-robin/0vgcq6un/"]Robin van Persie[/a] was forced to make two late changes, with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/ahmedhodzic-anel/8IpVzOsI/"]Anel Ahmedhodzic[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/moussa-anis-hadj/0vqEKboE/"]Anis Hadj Moussa[/a] ruled out with injuries. [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/albuquerque-goncalo/6uaJmpXb/"]Gonçalo Borges[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kraaijeveld-thijs/8fmnDmc2/"]Thijs Kraaijeveld[/a] replaced the duo in the starting XI.[/p][p]Following a cagey opening 20 minutes, during which only [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/sterling-raheem/pfm9avwi/"]Raheem Sterling[/a] and Borges dared to take attempts at goal, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/fc-volendam/6VbkuOqa/"]FC Volendam[/a] crawled out of their shell and started popping up in and around Feyenoord's box more often. To no avail, however, as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/oehlers-aurelio/WnkTNUm0/"]Aurelio Oehlers[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/descotte-anthony/2eAElQLA/"]Anthony Descotte[/a] only managed to deal pinpricks rather than knockout blows.[/p][p]Following the break and with just 45 minutes left to keep PSV from winning the league, Feyenoord appealed heavily for a penalty when [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/ueda-ayase/8Ssd0upn/"]Ayase Ueda[/a] was taken down. Referee Allard Lindhout did not heed the call and instead booked Robin van Persie for continuous protests.[/p][embed guid="81fc4181-9ebd-4d60-9aa5-1494dda3399f" url="https://x.com/Feyenoord/status/2040797485812080905?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]It took an hour for both sides to wreak some havoc in each other's boxes again, with Descotte testing [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/wellenreuther-timon/0tN8bFmr/"]Timon Wellenreuther[/a] at his near post and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/moder-jakub/zXbwZsIR/"]Jakub Moder[/a] forcing a smart save out of [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/van-oevelen-kayne/n3RuFZ1p/"]Kayne van Oevelen[/a] to keep the score level.[/p][p]Aymen Sliti looked set to hand Feyenoord their first lead with just ten minutes remaining, but the young winger missed a wide-open header. Another late chance saw Volendam get their biggest chance of the afternoon, but Benjamin Pauwels was kept from scoring by Wellenreuther in the 88th minute.[/p][p]Ayase Ueda took a rare attempt at goal in the second minute of injury time and fired a tricky header at Van Oevelen, who kept it out of his bottom corner to keep the score at 0-0 as PSV were seconds away from winning it all.[/p][p]Volendam kept Feyenoord at bay, helping PSV [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/news/soccer-eredivisie-imperious-psv-win-third-straight-eredivisie-title-to-become-27-time-champions/ClXrzzMO/"]win their 27th league title in club history[/a] as Feyenoord saw the gap to the Eindhoven giants widen to 17 points.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/fc-volendam-6VbkuOqa/feyenoord-8zjySeoN/?mid=KMfOZTXh"]Check out the full match statistics on Flashscore[/a][/p][image alt="Key match stats" id="497a0f01-f69e-4d10-947e-5b8632aa6952" credit-line="Flashscore" guid="0341b273-0f36-40e8-95b0-9ec72d585b9d" original-width="1200" original-height="1200" /]
