Sweden head coach Graham Potter has announced his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer.

[p]Potter has elected to name the 26 players he intends to take to the finals in North America, as opposed to a wider preliminary squad. The announcement comes a little over one month before Sweden kick off their Group F campaign in Mexico against Tunisia on 14th June.[/p][p]Liverpool striker Alexander Isak is one of seven players who missed Sweden's play-offs against Ukraine and Poland in March to have been recalled to the squad. Isak Hien and Eric Smith, who both left the camp before the Poland match through injury, have also been named.[/p][p]Alexander Bernhardsson and Emil Holm are among those who have returned to fitness in time to take their place, but the tournament has come too soon for Dejan Kulusevski - the long-term Tottenham absentee has not been selected.[/p][p]A surprise omission is Roony Bardghji, who made 26 appearances in his debut campaign with Barcelona. Another Spain-based attacker, Williot Swedberg, has also missed the cut.[/p][p]In goal, Potter has recalled Viktor Johansson and Jacob Widell Zetterstrom, both of whom missed the March international window. They are expected to be back-ups to Kristoffer Nordfeldt, but there is no place for either Noel Tornqvist and Melker Ellborg.[/p][p]Nordfeldt, Taha Ali and Elliot Stroud are the three Allsvenskan players heading to the World Cup. Stroud and Smith have been selected despite not having a senior cap to their names.[/p][p]"We have turned and turned every stone and investigated the possibilities and I have carefully considered the situation before making this decision, which was very tough," Potter said.[/p][p]"I have chosen a group that can stand strong together and in which the players get the best out of each other. A tournament is something different from an ordinary gathering, we are faced with other challenges over time that we need to handle together. And we build that capacity with the right mix of players, where everyone matters," said the head coach ahead of his first major tournament.[/p]
The Sweden squad for the World Cup
[p]Goalkeepers: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/nordfeldt-kristoffer/zidYDVKR/"]Kristoffer Nordfeldt[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/johansson-viktor/hG7X4mv9/"]Viktor Johansson[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/zetterstrom-widell/OG2Bcuat/"]Jacob Widell Zetterstrom[/a][/p][p]Defenders: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/lagerbielke-gustaf/UwOm1wvF/"]Gustaf Lagerbielke[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/lindelof-victor/OIp0Le1f/"]Victor Lindelof[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gudmundsson-gabriel/0zzTdK1T/"]Gabriel Gudmundsson[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/svensson-daniel/bs9KBNfb/"]Daniel Svensson[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/stroud-elliot/4rVMk5Sb/"]Elliot Stroud[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/starfelt-carl/ptNHGRiJ/"]Carl Starfelt[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hien-isak/hz4zWEIG/"]Isak Hien[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/holm-emil/ANr5qAci/"]Emil Holm[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/ekdal-hjalmar/06l4rEaC/"]Hjalmar Ekdal[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/smith-eric/remhb0a6/"]Eric Smith[/a] [/p][p]Midfielders: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bergvall-lucas/th3mAHj9/"]Lucas Bergvall[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/karlstrom-jesper/UDGFZQv8/"]Jesper Karlstrom[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/ayari-yasin/vTrnQI0N/"]Yasin Ayari[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/svanberg-mattias/z522mgfh/"]Mattias Svanberg[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/zeneli-besfort/hbgshYpl/"]Besfort Zeneli[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/sema-ken/8bzOQTcg/"]Ken Sema[/a][/p][p]Forwards: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/nilsson-gustaf/zofKop0A/"]Gustaf Nilsson[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/nygren-benjamin/WCHWGOvf/"]Benjamin Nygren[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/elanga-anthony/dOlRWlZ6/"]Anthony Elanga[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gyokeres-viktor/zaBZ1xIk/"]Viktor Gyokeres[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/ali-taha/no0y4BJ5/"]Taha Ali[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/isak-alexander/p41IV42c/"]Alexander Isak[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bernhardsson-alexander/0Ah8TRF1/"]Alexander Bernhardsson[/a][/p][embed guid="7cd07586-46a7-476e-afda-39cd92a417eb" url="https://x.com/svenskfotboll/status/2054205621965074915" social-type="twitter" /]
Sweden's Group F fixtures
[p]Sunday, 14th June: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/sweden-OQyqbHWB/tunisia-QqZVYk95/?mid=UaJKzaHN"]Sweden - Tunisia[/a], Guadalupe, Mexico (20:00 CST local time, 04:00 CEST on Monday 15th June)[/p][p]Saturday, 20th June: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/netherlands-WYintcWb/sweden-OQyqbHWB/?mid=0rAjVxuo"]The Netherlands - Sweden[/a], Houston, United States (12:00 CST local time, 19.00 CEST) [/p][p]Thursday, 25th June: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/japan-ULXPdOUj/sweden-OQyqbHWB/?mid=Sl2xgtXi"]Japan - Sweden[/a] Arlington, United States (18:00 PM CST local time, 01:00 CEST on Friday, June 26th)[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/soccer/world/world-cup/"]Follow Flashscore throughout the World Cup this summer.[/a][/p]
