According to sports analytics company Opta, PSV are the huge favourites to win the 2026/27 Eredivisie and claim a fourth consecutive league title.

[p]Opta ran the 2026/27 Eredivisie season through 10,000 simulations in their supercomputer. Like last year, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/psv/M9UEHJWi/"]PSV[/a] have been given the best odds of winning the Eredivisie title, finishing top of the league in 48.5% of their simulations. It's a slight decrease from last year, when they were given a 51.5% chance to win the league.[/p][p]Following PSV are [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/feyenoord/8zjySeoN/"]Feyenoord[/a] (11.8%) and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/ajax/8UOvIwnb/"]Ajax[/a] (10.2%), who trail the reigning champions by a massive distance. Feyenoord's number has gone way down from last year, when they were given a 21% chance at winning the title under Robin van Persie. Ajax, now led by Spaniard Michel Sanchez, were given a 10.1% chance at the title last year.[/p][p]Between the two, Feyenoord have been given the best chances at finishing second, claiming the second spot in 14.5% of the simulations as opposed to Ajax's 13.4%.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/az-alkmaar/2RxOow1i/"]AZ[/a] (8.6%) and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/twente/dhOKTHGA/"]FC Twente[/a] (8.1%) are the last two teams that have been given chances over 5% of winning the league. Surprisingly enough, AZ are mostly favoured to finish second (13%), while FC Twente's most popular finish was third (12.8%).[/p][image alt="Opta's predictions for the 2026/27 Eredivisie season" id="f3296188-4965-4644-b10e-169f90a8905d" credit-line="Opta" guid="f4e04b7d-c588-408b-a437-66a5cd884c61" original-width="1536" original-height="987" /][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/nijmegen/nRluRF0T/"]NEC[/a], last year's third-place finishers, are most often predicted to finish fourth or fifth, which both carry a 10.1% chance. The odds of repeating a third-place finish are slightly lower at 9.7%.[/p][p]Teams with the highest odds of finishing in the play-off spots, which are likely to be 5 to 9 again, are predicted to be AZ (5th: 11.3%), NEC (6th, 10%), [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/utrecht/p6QXMgOj/"]FC Utrecht[/a] (7th, 8.9%), [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/heerenveen/EDjXSyWG/"]sc Heerenveen[/a] (8th, 9%), and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/groningen/MBUGcjb9/"]FC Groningen[/a] (9th, 8.7%). FC Twente aren't favoured for a single position, but have a 44.3% chance of finishing in the play-off spots.[/p][p]The relegation fight is expected to involve five teams: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/sittard/YH8HX5iP/"]Fortuna Sittard[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/zwolle/r1L5w2EB/"]PEC Zwolle[/a], and promoted teams [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/den-haag/lAgLCkT3/"]ADO Den Haag[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/willem-ii/6u3qag0G/"]Willem II[/a], and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/cambuur/QRyYgO7J/"]Cambuur Leeuwarden[/a]. Willem II is the favourite for the 18th spot (17.5%), while Cambuur have been given a 17.2% chance. The two are heavily favoured to be relegated, with Willem II having a 32% chance of dropping back down and Cambuur a 31.8% chance.[/p][p]ADO Den Haag (23.3%), Fortuna Sittard (21.7%), and PEC Zwolle (21.6%) follow at a sizeable distance.[/p][p]The Eredivisie kicks off on Friday, August 7th, with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/cambuur-QRyYgO7J/excelsior-nNlLsRUr/?mid=Ie4ezqkL"]a game between Cambuur Leeuwarden and Excelsior[/a] at 20.00 CEST.[/p][infobox id="383e2abc-afe3-4139-8e06-aa4254ac57ee" /]
