Antonelli tops final practice session for Monaco Grand Prix ahead of Ferrari pair

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli set the fastest ⁠time in his Mercedes in the third practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix with ‌the fastest lap of the weekend on Saturday.

[p]The 19-year-old ‌Italian clocked 01:12.720 around the ‌twisting street circuit, eclipsing Ferrari duo [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/leclerc-charles/KlCOSRub/"]Charles Leclerc[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hamilton-lewis/tI5Vpe1h/"]‌Lewis Hamilton[/a], who had dominated Friday's two practice sessions.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/antonelli-andrea-kimi/ptGu0mT1/"]Antonelli[/a] ‌finished 18th last season in Monaco but this year arrived in the principality leading the championship by ‌43 points from British teammate [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/russell-george/xxF56RaN/"]⁠George Russell[/a] after ‌winning the last four races.[/p][p]Leclerc was 0.327 seconds slower than ​Antonelli's best lap on Saturday, with Hamilton 0.331 back.[/p][embed guid="e3b1b1ad-8242-4649-840c-8a555ce3a52c" url="https://x.com/F1/status/2063224500888465602" social-type="twitter" /][p]The session was interrupted ‌after Haas driver [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bearman-oliver/tMI3u5xo/"]Oliver Bearman[/a] lost control at Massenet corner and put his car into the barriers, causing significant damage to his rear wing.[/p][p]"I just totally lost it on the bump... so sorry," Britain's Bearman said over the team radio.[/p][p]Reigning world champion and 2025 Monaco winner [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/norris-lando/WSVABbVF/"]Lando Norris[/a] managed to get some track time ‌after his McLaren suffered an electrical failure in ​Friday's second session. He was ninth fastest.[/p][p]McLaren carried ‌out extensive work overnight, breaking the curfew, to replace the wiring harness and battery housing.[/p][p]A statement from race organisers confirmed that they would face no action as it was the ⁠first of their ⁠four individual (curfew) exceptions ‌for the 2026 season.[/p]
