Aussie actor Hugh Jackman 'in talks' over buying stake in Norwich City

Hollywood star Hugh Jackman says he is in talks to buy a stake in Norwich - and could soon be squaring up against fellow A-lister Ryan Reynolds in the second tier of English football.

[p]The Australian actor, whose mother is originally from the city, is close friends with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/wrexham/IgO7K1ZA/"]Wrexham[/a] co-owner Reynolds and told [b][i]talkSPORT[/i][/b] they could soon be rivals in the Championship.[/p][p][b]"I'm very, very interested - and talking about it right now," [/b]Jackman said when asked if he could get involved in English football.[/p][p][b]"Good on Ryan, you do your thing, I'm all about the Canaries."[/b][/p][p]In 2023, Jackman took up an invitation to watch Wrexham alongside his Deadpool and Wolverine co-star Reynolds, who co-owns the Welsh club with fellow actor Rob McElhenney.[/p][p]Under their ownership, Wrexham rose from the National League to the Championship with three straight promotions from the 2022/23 season.[/p][embed guid="c1ddfe29-1728-48f8-bcf7-f86a8ad02cbb" url="https://x.com/talkSPORT/status/2095502157613035806/video/1" social-type="twitter" /][p]Jackman believes [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/norwich/Qo6off6p/"]Norwich[/a] and Wrexham will be promoted to the Premier League this season, even though both teams have won just one of their four matches so far.[/p][p][b]"I went to Carrow Road a couple of times, and I love the Canaries, and this is the year we're going to get promoted. That's my prediction,"[/b] said Jackman.[/p][p][b]"My prediction is Norwich and Wrexham are getting promoted this year."[/b][/p][p]Sydney-born Jackman, 57, previously revealed he was offered the chance to invest in Norwich in 2010 but turned down the opportunity.[/p][p]American billionaire Mark Attanasio is the majority shareholder in the club, located in the east of England.[/p]
