Manchester United hire former Hearts coach Olid to lead women's team

Manchester United have appointed Eva Olid ⁠as coach of their women's team on a contract until June 2028, the Women's Super League ‌club said on Wednesday.

[p]The move comes two days after former ‌manager Marc Skinner left the club by ‌mutual agreement, ending a five-year spell weeks before the ‌start of the new season.[/p][p]The 40-year-old Olid arrives ‌after leaving Scottish side [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/hearts/Kb9LqyRT/"]Heart of Midlothian[/a] in May after almost five years in charge.[/p][p][b]She oversaw the most ‌successful period in the club's history, ⁠guiding Hearts from ‌the second tier to their first Scottish Women's Premier League ​title last season.[/b][/p][p]The Spaniard's achievements earned her both the SWPL Manager of the Season ​award and the PFA Scotland SWPL Manager of the Year honour.[/p][p][b]"The opportunity to become head coach ⁠of [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/manchester-united/4EeCFcxJ/"]Manchester United[/a] ​Women is a dream come true," Olid said in a club statement.[/b][/p][p][b]"There is already so much talent within our squad, and I am excited to ‌work with the players to support them to fulfil their immense potential.[/b][/p][p][b]"I am joining Manchester United at a really exciting time.
