Everton secured a first Premier League home win of the season against a side starting the round in the top half, comfortably defeating Chelsea 3-0 to dish out another blow to the Blues’ top-four hopes.

[p]In the relative infancy of his [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/chelsea/4fGZN2oK/"]Chelsea[/a] tenure, boss Liam Rosenior is coming under increasing pressure owing to an indifferent run of form.[/p][p]His cause wasn’t helped in the early stages by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/sanchez-robert/Q74F6aqr/"]Robert Sanchez[/a], who was caught dithering on the ball in his own box by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/beto/EPUEfWCc/"]Beto[/a], but he just recovered in time to take the ball off the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/everton/KluSTr9s/"]Everton[/a] forward’s toe and prevent a certain goal.[/p][p]Everton could count themselves a little unlucky not to have taken the lead just moments later, when [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/garner-james/zctP50uI/"]James Garner[/a] – high on his England call-up – arrowed an effort towards the bottom corner, only to be denied by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gusto-malo/YNCrLSO2/"]Malo Gusto[/a] on the line.[/p][image alt="Momentum" id="7bb2178a-5df5-4951-a11f-a060a8ce124f" credit-line="Opta by StatsPerform" guid="fd921ee1-e616-4387-a477-4e958363280f" original-width="1920" original-height="1080" /][p]Rosenior’s mood certainly wasn’t helped just after the half-hour mark when Everton took a fully deserved lead.[/p][p]Garner threaded a perfect ball through for Beto, who nicked in front of aánchez to lift the ball over him and into the bottom corner. [/p][p]The Toffees had [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/pickford-jordan/SKTJdUtH/"]Jordan Pickford[/a] to thank for holding their advantage into half time, as he produced yet another stunning reaction save to deny [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/fernandez-enzo/nZnbEVWP/"]Enzo Fernandez[/a] from point-blank range after the Argentine was quickest to react to a loose ball inside the area.[/p][p]Chelsea’s disgruntled boss made an attacking switch at the interval, and another within 15 minutes of the restart, as he desperately tried to mastermind a response.[/p][image alt="Key match stats" id="677f95f3-992e-4e79-b6f2-1e8fea487787" credit-line="Opta by StatsPerform" guid="34f58b7a-7867-4fe9-b910-38ed30e04131" original-width="1080" original-height="1080" /][p]Fernandez came close to a leveller when his curling effort needed parrying away, but things soon went from bad to worse for the visitors. [/p][p]A swift Everton counter-attack ended with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gueye-idrissa/f12b2WQA/"]Idrissa Gana Gueye[/a] feeding Beto in the area, and without hesitation, the Guinea-Bissau forward hammered an effort that proved too hot to handle for Sanchez as it squirmed through his legs and over the line.[/p][p]Beto was influential throughout, and he played a key role in Everton’s third goal too, winning a header that found [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/ndiaye-iliman/Im0c6Oy7/"]Iliman Ndiaye[/a] running onto the Chelsea back line.[/p][p]The Senegalese international stepped inside and unleashed a rocket into the top corner to cap off a perfect evening for David Moyes’ men, who move to within two points of sixth-placed Chelsea as their European challenge continues to gather momentum.[/p][image alt="Ndiaye puts the ball into the top corner" id="7cd413b5-1dce-4e23-9231-b95f6e1eae58" credit-line="ČTK / AP / Jon Super" guid="5b35af39-6c3b-41ea-8ef3-c6216599ab79" original-width="1400" original-height="933" /][p]Things look rather bleak for the Blues, whose midweek UEFA Champions League elimination was followed up by a significant blow to their top-four hopes.[/p][p]Flashscore Man of the Match: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/beto/EPUEfWCc/"]Beto[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/everton/KluSTr9s/"]Everton[/a])[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/chelsea-4fGZN2oK/everton-KluSTr9s/?mid=0lduPqvn"]Catch up on the match here[/a][/p]
