Suriname appoint former Dutch international Henk Fraser as coach

[p]Fraser, 60, has signed a ‌four-year contract to take the ‌team through to the 2030 World Cup.[/p][p]Fraser ‌has extensive experience of coaching in ‌the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/netherlands/WYintcWb/"]Netherlands[/a] at [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/den-haag/lAgLCkT3/"]ADO Den Haag[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/vitesse/xdFA0eGc/"]Vitesse Arnhem[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/sparta-rotterdam/KK4FaFV3/"]Sparta Rotterdam[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/utrecht/p6QXMgOj/"]FC Utrecht[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/waalwijk/lvM1vra5/"]‌RKC Waalwijk[/a]. Under Louis van ⁠Gaal, he also ‌served as assistant coach of the Dutch ​national team.[/p][p]He has experience with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/suriname/jefTDM4k/"]Suriname[/a] too, working last year as ​assistant to Stanley Menzo in the World Cup qualifying campaign in which ⁠Suriname reached ​the inter-confederation playoffs in March but failed to secure one of the last berths for the 48-team tournament in ‌Canada, Mexico and the United States.[/p][p]Menzo quit the job last November when Suriname lost their last group qualifier and missed out on a direct qualifying berth to the 2026 finals with Henk ten Cate taking over for the playoffs.[/p][p]Fraser, who was born in ‌Paramaribo, played for Sparta Rotterdam, Utrecht, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/roda/6FRTNZ8p/"]​Roda JC[/a], and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/feyenoord/8zjySeoN/"]Feyenoord[/a] as well ‌as the Dutch national team.[/p][p]"[b]His international experience, leadership, and football vision will contribute to the further development of the national squad[/b]," the Suriname ⁠association wrote on ⁠Instagram.[/p]
