VfB Stuttgart put in a commanding display to extend their unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga to six matches, beating Augsburg 5-2 in the Bundesliga to end the hosts’ run of eight games without defeat at WWK Arena.

[p]The early danger signs were there for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/augsburg/fTVNku3I/"]Augsburg[/a], as Deniz Undav forced [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/dahmen-finn/bi35uzgT/"]Finn Dahmen[/a] to tip the ball over his crossbar in just the third minute, but the home side didn’t heed the warning.[/p][p]Shortly before the quarter-hour mark, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/stiller-angelo/0hF2GIXS/"]Angelo Stiller[/a]’s cross from the left was batted down by Dahmen straight to Undav, who tucked away his 17th league goal of the season.[/p][p]The hosts looked to have quelled the early Stuttgart pressure when [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/rexhbecaj-elvis/dEsUd870/"]Elvis Rexhbecaj[/a] had an effort on goal midway through the half, yet that was just a precursor to more dominance from the visitors.[/p][p]With a little less than 30 minutes on the clock, a poor clearance was played back into the danger area by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/chema/dGwvkF1K/"]Chema Andres[/a], whose header landed perfectly for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/nartey-nikolas/ja18uZOO/"]Nikolas Nartey[/a] to backheel for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/tiago-tomas/WSswmxBa/"]Tiago Tomas[/a] to sweep home.[/p][p]With their very next attack, Die Schwaben were almost out of sight, as Nartey finished himself when he got ahead of his marker to turn home [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/mittelstadt-maximilian/x0JgoYBA/"]Maximilian Mittelstadt[/a]’s low cross. [/p][p]Matters nearly got worse for Augsburg before the break when the referee blew for a penalty against [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/massengo-han-noah/UeHTxDLp/"]Han-Noah Massengo[/a], only for VAR to deem he hadn’t done enough to give away a penalty when impeding former Burnley teammate [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/assignon-lorenz/2T5az5TR/"]Lorenz Assignon[/a].[/p][image alt="Augsburg - Stuttgart match momentum" id="7c0faa14-b05b-4bc6-9c8e-8e748053e92c" credit-line="Opta by StatsPerform" guid="007f78a7-c958-479e-b8cc-878eea9d0902" original-width="1080" original-height="1080" /][p]Unsurprisingly, Manuel Baum made a triple change at the break, which ushered in a positive 15 minutes for his team. First, Massengo tested [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/nubel-alexander/Igk6vzlT/"]Alexander Nubel[/a] from distance, and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/zesiger-cedric/AZjCvCIn/"]Cedric Zesiger[/a] skied a great chance from close range following a free-kick, before the Fuggerstadter cut the deficit to two. [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/fellhauer-robin/UN7i7Cf3/"]Robin Fellhauer[/a] found space on the right and his square ball fed [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/claude-maurice-alexis/UTdKF398/"]Alexis Claude-Maurice[/a], who had two efforts blocked before the arriving [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/rieder-fabian/GQOPPSgM/"]Fabian Rieder[/a] powered in the rebound.[/p][p]However, hopes of a comeback lasted mere seconds as Stuttgart scored almost straight from the kick-off. A ball over the top found [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/fuhrich-chris/bczcNJFB/"]Chris Fuhrich[/a], who cut inside and saw his effort saved by Dahmen, only for Undav to react the quickest and complete his brace.[/p][p]In the final 20 minutes, the hosts displayed their fighting spirit when a drilled [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/giannoulis-dimitris/r9fp8Nk5/"]Dimitris Giannoulis[/a] cross was taken down by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/jakic-kristijan/QkJGjOO2/"]Kristijan Jakic[/a] and, while his effort was denied by Nübel, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kade-anton/0U3az6U6/"]Anton Kade[/a] followed up to score.  But Stuttgart were finally out of sight seven minutes from time when Undav selflessly drew the goalkeeper and pulled the ball back for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/demirovic-ermedin/dIsZ5Eyb/"]Ermedin Demirovic[/a] to add a fifth.[/p][p]That sealed a first away success in four for Sebastian Hoeness’ side as they bounced back quickly from their midweek UEFA Europa League exit. Meanwhile, this is a third straight defeat for Augsburg and, after nine losses and a draw in their last 10 H2Hs, Augsburg will be happy to see the back of their opponents here.[/p][p]Flashscore Man of the Match: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/undav-deniz/tUHAdtMH/"]Deniz Undav[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/vfb-stuttgart/nJQmYp1B/"]Stuttgart[/a])[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/augsburg-fTVNku3I/stuttgart-nJQmYp1B/summary/stats/?mid=vNeR1IPh"]Check out all the match stats with Flashscore.[/a][/p]
