Elche dragged themselves out of the bottom three in tonight’s early evening LaLiga kickoff, thanks to a 3-2 victory at home to 10-man Atlético Madrid, who have now lost seven of their last eight matches in all competitions.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/atl-madrid/jaarqpLQ/"]Atleti[/a] were much changed from the weekend’s Copa del Rey final disappointment, but went some way to healing the wounds of their shootout loss to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/real-sociedad/jNvak2f3/"]Sociedad[/a] by taking the lead in the 10th minute.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gonzalez-nicolas-ivan/filNjPIq/"]Nicolás González[/a] won possession deep in his own half and kept running, before executing a neat one-two with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/mendoza-rodrigo/YNiXFzek/"]Rodri Mendoza[/a] and firing home. But they took the next chance, which came their way 18 minutes in.[/p][p]A half-cleared corner was headed back into the box by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/tete-morente/lUc5MiUn/"]Tete Morente[/a], and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/affengruber-david/EFLxG99f/"]David Affengruber[/a] beat [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/oblak-jan/SYy8ZHN9/"]Jan Oblak[/a] to the dropping ball and poked it past him.[/p][p]Los Franjiverdes kept the pressure on, and pressure was exactly what led to their second goal.[/p][p]On the half-hour mark, Affengruber forced [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/almada-thiago/CSKGShgi/"]Thiago Almada[/a] into losing possession at the edge of his own box, before a pull of Affengruber’s shirt saw the Argentinian sent off for denying a clear, goalscoring opportunity. [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/silva-andre/UZRsjD5h/"]André Silva[/a] sent Oblak the wrong way from the penalty spot.[/p][p]However, almost straight from kick-off, the visitors drew level once more, when González got in behind on the right side before heading his own flick over [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/dituro-matias/6uLxUVCT/"]Matías Dituro[/a] over the line, just before Affengruber could hook it away.
