Canada got revenge for their defeat at the World Championship quarter-final last year when they defeated Denmark 5-1 on Monday night to maintain their 100% record at the tournament.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/denmark/2mX8FleU/"]Denmark[/a] maintained the hope of repeating last year's sensational win against the Canadians as they kept the game scoreless for the first two periods despite [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/canada/dSsR389c/"]Canada[/a] leading the shots on goal statistics by 27-9.[/p][p]Canada held a decided edge in puck possession and managed a few challenging shots on Danish goalkeeper [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/henriksen-nicolaj/ryTkTe2R/"]Nicolaj Henriksen[/a], but the Danes managed to preserve the hope of an unlikely upset. [/p][p]The Canadian favourites became more dominant in the second period, but as was the case in last year’s quarter-finals, the teams went to the dressing room after 40 minutes with no goals on the scoreboard.[/p][p]Porter Martone, who played a crucial part in leading the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/philadelphia-flyers/QySGG7oT/"]Philadelphia Flyers[/a] past the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/pittsburgh-penguins/AkN0nWU6/"]Pittsburgh Penguins[/a] in the NHL playoffs, then broke the deadlock just 28 seconds into the third period. [/p][embed guid="777a9e0d-5610-4937-8a7b-9ad466d49d63" url="https://x.com/puckempire/status/2056414084413731049" social-type="twitter" /][p]The goal left the Danes visibly deflated, and they were dealt a further blow just two and a half minutes later with a clever play as Gabriel Vilardi escaped a challenge from Morten Poulsen before snapping it over Nicolaj Henriksen's glove. [/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/crosby-sidney/UTbIZpKC/"]Sidney Crosby[/a] then showed his incredible experience and importance for the Canadian team, dropping it to Denton Mateychuk to triple the lead at 3:33.[/p][p]Midway through the third period, Nick Olesen, the man who scored the winning goal late in the quarter-finals last year, then gave the Danes a lifeline when he cut in front, jamming the puck in before goalie Jet Greaves could get a stick on the puck.[/p][p]Crosby then got his third assist of the period, blasting into the Danish zone and skating around the goal before one-handing the puck to Ryan O'Reilly in front for a superb goal at 11:49.[/p][p]Parker Wotherspoon then put the icing on the cake for the Canadians with 28,5 second with a quick one-timer. [/p]
