Fenerbache confirm UEFA disciplinary case against duo after Lyon controversy

UEFA has opened disciplinary ⁠proceedings against Fenerbahce's Matteo Guendouzi and Mason Greenwood ‌following the second leg of ‌a Champions League ‌playoff match at Olympique Lyonnais, ‌the Turkish club said ‌on Thursday.

[p]French midfielder [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/guendouzi-matteo/6ZesE86o/"]Guendouzi[/a] and English forward [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/greenwood-mason/hxe108Jl/"]Greenwood[/a] ‌allegedly made provocative gestures ⁠toward ‌the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/lyon/2akflumR/"]Lyon[/a] supporters, which was ​followed by a brawl as Guendouzi left ​the pitch, following [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/fenerbahce/MsbmracL/"]Fenerbahce[/a]'s 2-1 win last month.[/p][p][b]"Our club ⁠will ​present the necessary defences before the relevant UEFA bodies in order to ‌protect the rights and interests of our players and Fenerbahce during this process," the Turkish outfit added in a statement.[/b][/p][p]Fenerbahce said they are also under scrutiny.[/p][p][b]"Everything from that ‌match is still with ​the disciplinary body," a ‌UEFA spokesperson said.[/b][/p][p]Fenerbahce progressed to the league phase of the Champions League with a 3-2 aggregate ⁠victory.[/p]
