Bournemouth kept their UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualification hopes alive after a 1-1 draw over Manchester City at the Vitality Stadium saw Pep Guardiola’s men concede the Premier League (PL) title to Arsenal, giving the Gunners their first league crown since 2004.

[p]Reports of [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/guardiola-pep/hxNijWrJ/"]Guardiola[/a]’s imminent departure overshadowed the build-up to a potentially tricky assignment, as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/manchester-city/Wtn9Stg0/"]City[/a] looked to take the PL title race to the final day.[/p][p]They created their first opening when [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/semenyo-antoine/r1Gz1yPk/"]Antoine Semenyo[/a] raced down the right-hand side and teed up [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/doku-jeremy/lMHcYK4f/"]Jeremy Doku[/a], whose left-footed effort was comfortably saved by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/petrovic-dorde/2F8I5Zyo/"]Dorde Petrovic[/a]. [/p][p]Semenyo then slotted the ball in the back of the net against his former club, but was denied by the linesman’s flag.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/evanilson/lUqxFifa/"]Evanilson[/a] would then have been disappointed to blaze his close-range shot over the bar, only to have his blushes spared by another offside call.[/p][p]City were doing most of the probing though, and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/haaland-erling/UmV9iQmE/"]Erling Haaland[/a] saw his left-footed strike deflected behind by Evanilson after the Brazilian cleared [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/rodri/K0G8DB00/"]Rodri[/a]’s initial header from [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/silva-bernardo/lUg03qcR/"]Bernardo Silva[/a]’s corner.[/p][p]However, it was [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/iraola-andoni/xpALVpwq/"]Andoni Iraola[/a]’s men who struck first with a goal which would have been cheered just as loudly in North London as it was in Dorset. [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kroupi-eli-junior/fHMXip22/"]Junior Kroupi[/a] took [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/truffert-adrien/WQprkBYj/"]Adrien Truffert[/a]’s ball into stride, opened up his body, and curled an unstoppable right-footed effort past a motionless [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/donnarumma-gianluigi/WScbdXmL/"]Gianluigi Donnarumma[/a].[/p][image alt="Bournemouth's Junior Kroupi celebrates scoring their first goal" href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/arsenal/hA1Zm19f/"]Gunners[/a]’ champagne was on ice, but they may have been tempted to put their bottles back in the fridge had Petrovic not made a fine save to deny [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/o-reilly-nico/xOrYaNWc/"]Nico O’Reilly[/a] from deep inside the box just seconds after the restart.[/p][p]But those City fans hoping this would lead to an onslaught on [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/bournemouth/OtpNdwrc/"]Bournemouth[/a]’s goal were left disappointed.[/p][p]Surprisingly, the Cherries didn’t defend for their lives – as most teams with a lead over City might – Donnarumma was called into action to parry away Adrien Truffert’s strike, while Kroupi blazed his attempt over the bar from Evanilson’s deft backheel at the end of a sublime passage of play.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/rayan/CSiH3dM4/"]Rayan[/a] then came within inches of becoming only the fourth teenager to score in four successive PL games when he reacted to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hill-james/l4mcNZuS/"]James Hill[/a]’s knockdown with a sliding effort which cannoned off the post.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/brooks-david/Yo9UV9Mc/"]David Brooks[/a] could have added gloss to the scoreline late on, but his shot also hit the woodwork in the closing stages.[/p][p]To give credit where due, Guardiola’s team did have the final say on the night, restoring parity at the death when Haaland’s angled strike clipped in off the post, but a coveted second didn’t materialise, and the celebrations began at the Emirates. [/p][embed guid="4f854a43-2e00-4475-8e80-57253acc69bb" url="https://x.com/Flashscorecom/status/2056833695772795179" social-type="twitter" /][p]City's point is firmly overshadowed by the wider context of a title race they have now lost, and the dust will now settle on a campaign of mixed fortunes for a City side which tasted victory in both domestic cup competitions, but missed out on the two biggest prizes available.[/p][p]Meanwhile, the Cherries can reflect on a season of outstanding progress. They are now undefeated in 17 PL games (W9, D8) and are guaranteed UEFA Europa League football as the bare minimum for next season.[/p][p]UCL qualification also remains a distinct possibility, though, and would leave Iraola to reflect on an enduring legacy when he departs at the end of this week.[/p][p]Flashscore Man of the Match: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/petrovic-dorde/2F8I5Zyo/"]Dorde Petrovic[/a] ([a
