Long-time MLB veteran Andrew McCutchen earns Opening Day roster spot on Rangers

[p]McCutchen, 39, signed a minor league deal with the Rangers in the offseason, then proceeded to hit a stellar .444 batting average with one home run and seven RBI through seven Spring Training games. [/p][embed guid="6c244bf9-60b5-46bb-babf-db5a5cd336d5" url="https://x.com/MLBONFOX/status/2036176995663425887?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]The vet is now officially entering his 18th year in the MLB after hitting .239 with 13 home runs and 57 RBI in 135 games with the Pirates last season - the same team he spent 12 years of his career with. [/p][p]McCutchen made his league debut in 2009, finishing fourth in National League Rookie of the Year voting, before going on to become one of the best players in baseball between 2011 and 2015. [/p][p]In 2011, McCutchen would earn his first All-Star bid before the following year, when he would lead the NL with 194 hits and bring home his one and only Gold Glove of his career. The next year was McCutchen's MVP season, where he also earned his third straight All-Star selection and first Silver Slugger Award. [/p][p]The next two years (2014-2015), McCutchen would earn All-Star selections and a couple more Silver Sluggers while finishing in the top five of MVP voting in each as well. Since 2015, McCutchen has never been back to the All-Star Game. [/p][p]Now, he's part of a Rangers team that missed out on the playoffs last year after finishing 81-81, missing the playoffs for the second straight season.
