Brobbey and Luckassen make history as fifth set of brothers to score at World Cup

Netherlands striker Brian Brobbey and Ghana defender Derrick Luckassen have made history at the 2026 World Cup, becoming the fifth set of brothers to score in the competition.

[p]The duo join four pairs of brothers who have previously netted on the world's biggest stage, and become the first in nearly 30 years to do so.[/p][p][b]They are also the first on record to score for two different countries; [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/brobbey-brian/pfAvgQUT/"]Brobbey[/a] has starred for the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/netherlands/WYintcWb/"]Netherlands[/a] and netted three times already, while [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/luckassen-derrick/vkkxcAG9/"]Luckassen[/a] scored in [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/ghana/nNBjHale/"]Ghana[/a]'s [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/croatia-K8aznggo/ghana-nNBjHale/?mid=6mbbuBSb"]2-1 defeat to Croatia[/a] in their final group fixture.[/b][/p][p]In the history of the World Cup, just four other sibling pairs have both scored at the same tournament.[/p][p]West Germany duo Ottmar and Fritz Walter bagged seven between them en route to the trophy in 1954. Both converted from the penalty spot, as well.[/p][p]Finally, famous Danish brothers Michael and Brian Laudrup both scored in the 1998 edition of the competition.[/p]
