Carolina's Danish keeper, Frederik Andersen, was emotional after he secured the Stanley Cup final ticket for the Hurricanes, saving 23 out of 24 attempts from the Montreal Canadians as Caroline won 6-1 on Friday night. For Andersen it was an emotional moment after his agent and friend, the four-time Stanley Cup winner Claude Lemieux passed away two days ago.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/lemieux-claude/IVu66Zs8/"]Claude Lemieux[/a] became a successful agent after his 21-season NHL career, and one of the first players he signed up was [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/andersen-frederik/OhFcnMIJ/"]Frederik Andersen[/a].[/p][p]"It's been a difficult couple of days. However, the way we showed up for each other today is incredible. I can't talk about enough good things about this team and the way they supported me," Andersen said in a postgame interview on TNT, following [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/carolina-hurricanes/Sx0gl0tm/"]Carolina[/a]'s 6-1 victory in Game 5 over [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/montreal-canadiens/nu2G7VWc/"]Montreal[/a] to the series 4-1.[/p][p]Andersen made 23 saves, including some key second-period stops, as the Danish keeper did not allow Montreal a way back into the game on the back of the Hurricanes securing a 4-0 advantage in the first 27:19 of the game.[/p][embed guid="4d0d3939-3700-472c-aa1e-b51fb4b778a5" url="https://x.com/NHL_On_TNT/status/2060557120395743528" social-type="twitter" /][p]"He's like family," Andersen said after Game 3, where the former Stanley Cup star Lemieux allegedly had reached out to let him know he had been asked to carry the torch.[/p][p]Captain [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/staal-jordan/nybJM7z7/"]Jordan Staal[/a] said the Hurricanes had supported their goaltender through his grief.[/p][p]"Freddie was unbelievable. "We tried to share as best we could and play well in front of him as best we could. But I thought he played unbelievably."[/p][p]The Carolina Hurricanes will face the Las Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup final. [/p]
