The Nedbank Cup quarter-finals have produced some intriguing ties as the eight remaining clubs take aim at the last four in what looks like one of the most open campaigns in many years.

They won their first two quarter-finals, defeating [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/black-leopards/joVtOm40/"]Black Leopards[/a] (3-2) in 2008 thanks to an [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/maleka-mpho/fsNpDhwQ/"]Mpho Maleka[/a] hat-trick, and second-tier [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/pretoria-u/6TyTZTlf/"]University of Pretoria[/a] (2-1) in 2010.[/p][p]The following year they suffered a 3-2 loss to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/black-aces/MFYmqktQ/"]Mpumalanga Black Aces[/a], before a fourth quarter-final appearance in five years in 2012, when they defeated Santos 1-0 as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/nyadombo-carlington/h4NPMET5/"]Carlington Nyadombo[/a] scored the winner.[/p][p]It was a long wait after that for their next appearance, which came in 2024 when they lost 4-2 to eventual champions [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/orlando-pirates/p4SF9EMI/"]Orlando Pirates[/a].[/p][p]It has been a stage for them that has seen goals, with 20 scored in those five games, an average of four per match.[/p][embed guid="17ed1bab-1153-41cb-953d-13a2cefed78c" url="https://x.com/AmaZuluFootball/status/2027778362740003086?s=20" social-type="twitter" /]
Durban City
[p]P1 W0 D1 L0 GF0 GA0[/p][p]As a new club that was born out of the ashes of the old Maritzburg United, Durban City have only appeared once before in the quarter-finals, which was last season.[/p][p]They were in the second tier then and hosted [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/marumo-gallants/Gnghzo3C/"]Marumo Gallants[/a] in a hard-fought 0-0 draw, before the latter’s greater experience in the shoot-out shone through as they won 4-1 on penalties.[/p][p]With City’s first two games this season also ending 0-0 and going to penalties, it is something they are getting used to.[/p][embed guid="84fca558-9dcc-4d0c-89ed-47ea597739a3" url="https://x.com/DurbanCity_FC/status/2028337610603577519?s=20" social-type="twitter" /]
Lamontville Golden Arrows
[p]P3 W2 D0 L1 GF3 GA2[/p][p]Golden Arrows appeared in three quarter-finals between 2015 and 2019, but not before that or since, so they are in rare territory this season.[/p][p]They have won two of their previous visits to this stage, but are still waiting for their first Nedbank Cup final appearance.[/p][p]They lost 1-0 to SuperSport United in 2015, before beating [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/platinum-stars/OfRJ8YyP/"]Platinum Stars[/a] by the same scoreline in 2017 as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bilankulu-musa/YVvUqlCi/"]Musa Bilankulu[/a] got the game’s only goal.[/p][p]They were back again in 2019 and the club’s record scorer [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/mutizwa-knox/QHJEVC43/"]Knox Mutizwa[/a] grabbed both goals in a 2-1 win over Bloemfontein Celtic.[/p][embed guid="c29fcf1c-a721-447b-a452-19c891b7ccf0" url="https://x.com/goldenarrowsfc1/status/2028528737105412262?s=20" social-type="twitter" /]
Sekhukhune United
[p]P2 W1 D0 L1 GF2 GA2[/p][p]Sekhukhune have a 50% success rate from their two visits to this stage of the competition, both of which have been since 2023.[/p][p]They defeated [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/chippa-utd/AiZa0UPS/"]Chippa United[/a] 2-1 on their way to the final three years ago, with a goal inside the first minute from [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/mokwana-elias/v7L44HHS/"]Elias Mokwana[/a] setting them on their way.
