Father and coach of Aussie tennis player McCabe allegedly assaulted in Birmingham

Police are investigating an alleged assault by a staff member on the coach of Australian tennis player James McCabe at a Challenger tournament in Birmingham this week.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/mccabe-james/2uDohcK5/"]McCabe[/a] claimed the incident occurred following a dispute between his father Patrick, who serves as the 22-year-old's coach, and a member of the Edgbaston Priory Club grounds staff.[/p][p]The world number 234 said the clash was over the use of practice courts on Monday.[/p][p]Writing on Instagram, McCabe described the altercation as a "[b]serious police-reported player/coach safety incident at the tournament venue.[/b][/p][p]"[b]My account is that he was followed, physically handled by a staff member, and left in pain afterwards.[/b]"[/p][p]West Midlands Police said in a statement: "[b]We received a report of a man being assaulted at a venue in Sir Harrys Road, Birmingham on June 1.
