[p]As national team captain, Janne Andersson led the Swedish national team to the World Cup quarter-finals in 2018. [/p][p]Parallel with the championship, Janne Andersson fought a battle against prostate cancer, he says in SVT's talk show "Carina Bergfeldt". [/p][p]It was in January 2018 that Andersson noticed that something was not right. [/p][p][b]"The national team doctor, Anders Wallentin, and I were out for one of our many morning walks, and I had to stop and pee a couple of times. Then he said, "We'll have to look into that somehow,"[/b] says Janne Andersson.[/p][p]The result of the ultrasound examination arrived the same day as the national team had a World Cup meeting. Janne Andersson had prostate cancer.[/p][p]He underwent surgery after the championship in Russia.[/p][p][b]"So many people have suffered worse things than I have done. But it is clear that when you are rolled into the operating room, and there are lights and machines and people all around you... Then you are not cocky"[/b], says a noticeably touched Janne Andersson in "Carina Bergfeldt".[/p][p]The operation went as planned, says Andersson.[/p][p][b]"I was lying in the room when the doctor came in. The first thing they said was: "The shit is gone".[/b] And it felt so damn good.[/p][p]Janne Andersson was the national team captain for Sweden between 2016 and 2023.[/p]
