Skelleftea stayed top of the Swedish Hockey League thanks to an extraordinary 7-6 win over Malmo as Frolunda bagged a rare win, while at the bottom, Leksand won the basement battle to send HV 71 to the foot of the standings.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/skelleftea/8jdWygW7/"]Skelleftea[/a] were well beaten by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/vaxjo/hzXCSnCE/"]Vaxjo[/a] last time out and looked set for another tough afternoon when they found themselves 3-1 down in the 11th minute against [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/malmo/pO1SCzgR/"]Malmo[/a], as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/oberg-linus/lG6J3cA5/"]Linus Oberg[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/persson-carl/8WJLUQ4D/"]Carl Persson[/a] netted for the hosts after [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/lindberg-valter/MJWGI6Zf/"]Valter Lindberg[/a] had cancelled out [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hemstrom-kalle/dxcH0U4U/"]Kalle Hemstrom[/a]'s opener.[/p][p]But the league leaders were back level again four minutes later, as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/johnson-jonathan/pfjgWWWG/"]Jonathan Johnson[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hugg-rickard/UwnzCOS7/"]Rickard Hugg[/a] both found the net within a minute of each other.[/p][p]However, no sooner had Skelleftea restored parity were they behind again, as Linus Oberg struck another goal for the Redhawks, and there was still time for an eighth goal in a crazy opening period, as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/davidsson-jonathan/WGoq7bVB/"]Jonathan Davidsson[/a] made it 4-4 in the final minute.[/p][embed guid="73238872-16fd-409f-a77c-82e6fe6ee229" url="https://x.com/SHLse/status/2030304110482767924" social-type="twitter" /][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/stjernborg-victor/IksTRyYi/"]Victor Stjernborg[/a] gave the visitors the lead for the first time just over three minutes into the second period, only for a [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hanzl-robin/pS5mJ6qI/"]Robin Hanzl[/a] strike and a second for Persson turn the match back in Malmo's favour come the midway point.[/p][p]That's how things stayed until the third period, in which tripping calls would be Malmo's undoing - when Oberg was sent to the box, Johnson scored his second goal on the powerplay, and when Persson committed the same offence, the powerplay ended with Hugg completing his brace with just over five minutes left.[/p][p]Skelleftea conceded penalties of their own in the final minutes, but their defence stood tall and held on for a [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/hockey/malmo-pO1SCzgR/skelleftea-8jdWygW7/?mid=pWEghQB4"]7-6[/a] away win, their eighth win in their last 10. They go two points clear of HV who have lost six of their last eight.[/p][p]Leksand are now three points shy of 12-placed [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/orebro/Y3RLgQQn/"]Orebro[/a], who came from 2-0 down before falling [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/hockey/orebro-Y3RLgQQn/vaxjo-hzXCSnCE/?mid=WSnsqMYj"]3-2[/a] in overtime against Vaxjo, for whom Brogan Rafferty eventually sealed the two-point victory. Brynas remain fifth and go further clear of seventh despite a first loss in four.[/p][p]Brynas didn't slip a place because [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/lulea/0QhOwF1e/"]Lulea[/a] lost for the fourth time in a row in all competitions, going down [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/hockey/djurgarden-Q7UY6Hrs/lulea-0QhOwF1e/?mid=bZvT6PQc"]4-1[/a] away at [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/djurgarden/Q7UY6Hrs/"]Djurgarden[/a], who picked up a much-needed first win in three to put five points between themselves and Linkoping in 11th.[/p][p]Finally, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/aslund-per/hhypjnVS/"]Per Aslund[/a] scored a hat-trick and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/lodin-viktor/tv3Kr385/"]Viktor Lodin[/a] netted twice as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/farjestad/4b1TBPb8/"]Farjestad[/a] won [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/hockey/farjestad-4b1TBPb8/rogle-j5ve8f1r/?mid=dAYbWrko"]6-2[/a] away at [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/rogle/j5ve8f1r/"]Rogle[/a] to close the gap on the top six to three points, as results elsewhere sealed a top six place for the home side despite a third defeat in four.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/hockey/sweden/shl/"]Follow the SHL regular season run-in on Flashscore.[/a][/p]
