Olympique de Marseille have boosted their UEFA Champions League qualification hopes, following a 1-0 Ligue 1 success against Toulouse that avenged their midweek Coupe de France exit at the hands of Les Violets.

[p]Habib Beye picked up the first win of his [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/marseille/SblU3Hee/"]Marseille[/a] reign against [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/lyon/2akflumR/"]Olympique Lyonnais[/a] last weekend, but the midweek cup loss prevented any momentum from building, leading many to question how Les Phocéens would start.[/p][p]However, they proved their mental resilience in the opening period and required just under 20 minutes to break the deadlock.[/p][p]A scorer in Wednesday’s cup tie, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/greenwood-mason/hxe108Jl/"]Mason Greenwood[/a] was at it again, as he swept [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/paixao-igor/EuBBEVVq/"]Igor Paixao[/a]’s cutback high into the net for his second goal in four Ligue 1 outings.[/p][embed guid="e4baa1c1-8979-4c2f-823e-b53939cac94a" url="https://x.com/OM_English/status/2030380146708857139" social-type="twitter" /][p]Marseille continued to threaten, and after Paixao drew a relatively comfortable save from [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/restes-guillaume/v3qqsoQi/"]Guillaume Restes[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/aubameyang-pierre-emerick/Wl4EyKZk/"]Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang[/a] had a fantastic opportunity to double his side’s advantage.[/p][p]He pounced on [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/casseres-cristian/4UatnyW3/"]Cristian Casseres[/a] Jr.’s loose backpass, but despite rounding Restes, he could not find the target from a narrow angle.[/p][p]As half-time approached, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/toulouse/MLmY2yB1/"]Toulouse[/a] finally grew into the game themselves, and dangerous efforts from [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/donnum-aron/d2T8jid4/"]Aron Dønnum[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kamanzi-waren/ppfe4v67/"]Warren Kamanzi[/a] gave the away team something to think about at the interval.[/p][p]Toulouse still had to increase their intensity after the restart, and they did just that. Within 60 seconds, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/santiago-hidalgo/boFpAfmT/"]Santiago Hidalgo[/a] fired narrowly over the crossbar, and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gboho-yann/25Lm5dfs/"]Yann Gboho[/a] struck the woodwork itself before the hour mark.[/p][p]Following that near miss, the affair was a cagey one, with both teams committing a number of minor fouls and a couple of tame scuffles breaking out.[/p][image alt="Key match stats" id="3512d4fe-9f12-4105-80a3-96529aa1e2f3" credit-line="Opta by StatsPerform" guid="570eaa94-7e5c-4775-bbfe-867050fff7e3" original-width="1080" original-height="1080" /][p]As the game’s climax approached, Toulouse pushed forward and looked far more likely to score. Ultimately, though, their end product was lacking, and Marseille goalkeeper [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/rulli-geronimo/rcbM0Dd8/"]Geronimo Rulli[/a] was never really tested - a sentiment underlined by the fact that the hosts managed just one shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.[/p][p]Having seen out the victory, L’OM are now unbeaten in 24 Ligue 1 meetings with Toulouse, and will spend tonight provisionally third ahead of Lyon.[/p][p]Toulouse, meanwhile, are without a win in six league fixtures, but with a 12-point buffer over the bottom three ahead of the final nine matchdays, they can afford to turn their attention to the looming cup semi-final versus RC Lens in April, as they look to make it two cup wins in four seasons.[/p][p]Flashscore Man of the Match: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/paixao-igor/EuBBEVVq/"]Igor Paixao[/a] (Marseille)[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/marseille-SblU3Hee/toulouse-MLmY2yB1/?mid=lUOoRvcB"]Check out all the match stats with Flashscore.[/a][/p]
